SOUVENIR AL PESO. 2012, INACT Festival , Estrasburgo.
Invited to participate in the festival of action art INACT(Strasbourg), under the offer to work on the theme “critical mass”, we decided to approach performance from the craft. The proposal consisted of massively reproducing deformed versions of one of the city’s main icon, the Cathedral of Notre – Dame de Strasbourg (availing ourselves of an original figurine-souvenir), then selling them to the weight at the entrance of the venue where the festival was held. We produced souvenirs aimed at the tourism generated by contemporary art. Through this repetitive action, we exaggerated to the absurd the frivolous of the souvenir, the perversity of the denatured symbol, and the dialogue between the commercialized product, the artwork, and the artisan process.
